This amazing mountain range hides valleys, rivers, forests, and landscapes with infinite biodiversity. You can see savage horses, bulls, deer, bears, and an incredible variety of plants; in summary, a whole new world. Bulls run free through the mountains; we know them by the name of ``cimarrones``. They are like the force of the mountain in the body of an animal. They stare at you with deep black eyes, as if asking what you are doing in the heart of their land. A land where pollution is not yet a problem, and the only worry is the search of food to survive. This photograph of ``el páramo``, the high Andes, is a sample of this poetic life, where secrets of life and beauty are zealously kept.

This made for some dramatic cloud formations and changes in the colour of the ocean. Caption: This photo was taken about 2:00 AM at the Arenal Observatory Lodge in Costa Rica. We arrived the night before and the fog blocked the falling molten rocks from view, but we could hear the faint rumbling of the active volcano once we laid down for the night. That was a wild experience... knowing this beast was out there, but not being able to see it. The next evening the fog cleared for a few minutes to allow for this shot. I asked Chris to hold steady for 5 minutes during the exposure... I'd say he did better than most!
